1 min read

How can data and artificial intelligence help us anticipate food safety risks in a changing climate?

In the third episode of AMBROSIA Expert Talks, Antonis Koukourikos, Chief Science Officer at SCiO P.C., shares insights into the development of AMBROSIA’s data management platform and how digital technologies can support informed decisions across the food sector.

In Part A, the conversation explores how the platform brings together climate projections and food safety models to help assess potential risks for different crops and regions. Antonis explains the challenges of combining diverse datasets and how artificial intelligence can support predictions under future climate conditions.

In Part B, the discussion turns to the people who could benefit from these tools, including researchers, risk assessors, policymakers and food businesses. Data quality, transparency and trust take centre stage, highlighting the importance of helping users understand how predictions are produced and the uncertainties they carry.

Together, the two parts explore how AMBROSIA aims to turn complex scientific data into practical knowledge, supporting earlier action on emerging food safety challenges.

For the AMBROSIA Innovation Hub community, this episode offers an accessible introduction to the technology behind the project and the expertise connecting climate science, food safety and decision-making.
